I have never shot any CPCA sanctioned matches myself. Just the CSSA matches, which are include-

*600 match, 60 rounds

*1200 match, 120 “

*1500 match, 150 “

*Service Pistol match

A 1200 match is just two consecutive 600. These seem to be the most popular club level matches.

We are competing against 6 shooters, so all semi auto are only loaded to six rounds in each magazine

Stage 1: B27R Targe

7 Yards – Double Action – 12 Shots standing without support.  Twelve Seconds, time starts with loaded gun in holster and includes reloading for the second 6 shot string.

Stage 2:

50 Feet – Double Action – 6 Shots kneeling; 6 shots standing, 6 left handed with support, 6 shots standing right hand with support.  Ninety Seconds, time starts with loaded gun in holster and includes reloading.  

Both stages are fired on one B27R Target*

Stage 3: ( Target change)B27R Targe

50 feet – Double Action – 6 Shots standing without support position.  Twelve Seconds, time starts with loaded gun in holster no barricade or other support is used.

Stage 4:

50 Feet – Single or Double Action – 6 Shots sitting; 6 Shots Prone; 6 shots standing, left hand with support, 6 shots standing right hand with support.  Two Minutes and 45  Seconds, time starts with loaded gun in holster and includes reloading.  Fired on B27R Target

A little trick- use a digital watch with a timmer. Have the face of the watch facing you, so you can see your remaining time. You have lots of time, so make your shots count…..no need for speed on the last three stages.

Equipment required-

Buy a small carpet or a shooting matt. You

are going to need it!

*A holster (no shoulder or cross draw holsters) is required

Guns-NRA rules allow .32 caliber or larger in a revolver with a maximum 6″ barrel length and .35 caliber or larger in a auto pistol with a 5″ maximum barrel length. Many shooters use a six shot revolver firing .38spl while others use 9mm, .40, or .45 caliber semi-autos. There are also some restrictions on hooded front sights and the types of barrel ribs, so again, the refer to the rules to make sure your gun complies.

Ammo- there is no power factors in PPC, but the projectile must pass through the target backer.  Ammo can be factory loaded or hand loaded, but must not be Magnum or High Speed ammo.
